Nutrition : role in supporting fitness and exercise

Nutrition plays an essential role in supporting fitness and exercise. If you increase your level of exercise activities, your need for nutrients and calories will also increase. In addition, the foods you eat before and after you exercise will have an impact on your performance during the physical activity and on your recovery afterward.

 

Pre- and post-exercise nutrition

Researches from different libraries address the issue of pre and post exercise nutrition.  It is important to consider the pre- and post-exercise nutrition choices. It’s very important to eat the right foods before and after your workouts to maximize your results. For example, If its a weight loss journey, you must be in a caloric deficit. That is,  you are burning more calories than you’re consuming. However, if the caloric deficit is too large it will have negative impacts on your body. For example, energy levels, training results, recovery, and metabolism . Eating protein in the few hours prior to your workout will will enhance your energy, particularly for high-intensity or longer endurance-type workouts.

Be sure to explain what the person should consume in an average day to support their caloric and nutritional needs. A good nutrition plan should entail the following:

  • A carbohydrate source from a fruit or vegetable
  •  A protein source
  •  Water is important throughout the day
  • Always have breakfast to give your body the fuel it needs for the day
  • Fruits and salads

Nutrition plan helps to maintain a healthy diet. They help by guiding in the right food, nutrients and portions needed. Consequently an individual is able to take the right number of calories the body requires.
