Nursing Midwifery Board versus Sanger: case study

Please read the Nursing  Midwifery Board of Australia v Sanger case study (Review and Regulation). The background of the case was as follows:

Mr Darren Sanger (Mr Sanger) was first registered as a nurse in Victoria on 21 January 1992. Additionally, as detailed at paragraph 6 below, Mr Sanger’s registration was suspended by an Immediate Action Committee of the Board (IAC) on 5 October 2017.

The State and Territories Board replaced the Immediate Action Committee of the Board . Further, Mr Sanger’s professional conduct has been subject to the National Law since that time.

What actions/omissions on the part of the Registered Nurse(s) contributed to the adverse outcome for the patient. Again, here are some allegations to help with that:

Allegation one

First, the respondent  admitted the allegation in the Nursing Midwifery Board versus Sanger.  Further, the Sanger engaged in professional misconduct within the meaning of the definition of professional misconduct in paragraphs (a), (b) and (c) of section 5 of the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (the National Law), details of which are set out in the attached reasons.

Further, Sanger admitted the allegation, the Tribunal finds that he engaged in professional misconduct within the meaning of the definition of professional misconduct in paragraphs (a), (b) and (c) of section 5 of the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (the National Law), details of which are set out in the attached reasons.
