British Navy in the Pacific War- Performance

Up until America had its focus on increasing its Naval strength following the attack at Pearl Harbour, Britain had been confident in its own Naval power being second to none. So why at the end of the War, did Britain’s Pacific Fleet acquire the name the “Forgotten Fleet”? To answer this question, we will look at the capabilities of the British Navy, as well as their roles in the Pacific, and whether they were effective enough to significantly contribute to the Allied victory in the East. Conversely, we will also look at the capabilities and effectiveness of the Japanese fleet and how the Allies overcame them to determine whether British Naval intervention was necessary in this predominately American-run operation to defeat Japan.
