The purpose of this assignment is to summarize the arguments made by Keenga-Yamahtta Taylor in the book #BLACKLIVES MATTER to Black Liberation; and to provide examples from the book and the film. The Talk, that exemplify her arguments. In addition, you will offer a critic of her arguments, and discuss changes in policies and practices that could result in positive change. Your paper should include the following sections: I. Title Page formatted according to ASA guidelines. II. Introduction (1-2 paragraphs): Summarize the systematic problems that Taylor identifies as the root causes of the current systemic problems that have led to the recent #BLM movement. Describe the goals of the #BLM movement.

III. Critical Analysis (4-6): Describe 2-3 structural causes that are identified by Taylor, that you believe are most responsible for contemporary racial inequality. Indicate how these causes are linked to the structure or functioning of the American Criminal Justice system. Be specific in describing each cause (using peer reviewed sources), and be sure to use examples from the book or the film to illustrate how these structures operate in the lives of African Americans. Describe 2 or 3 ways that these structures can be changed to improve racial equality. You can identify policy suggestions of Taylor that you agree with or that you disagree with, discuss this in detail. Describe why you think her suggestions for reform will or will not work.

Summarize how the alternative practices or policies that you have identified would be a benefit to the individuals (in the system) and to society, and explain how they would make the system a more merciful or just system.
