Ethics: Theory & Contemporary Issues

Ethics is the process of questioning, discovering, and defending our values, principles, and purpose. It’s about finding out who we are and staying true to that in the face of temptations, challenges, and uncertainty. It’s not always fun and it’s hardly ever easy, but if we commit to it, we set ourselves up to make decisions we can stand by, building a life that’s truly our own and a future we want to be a part of.

Questions

With your understanding of ethics, what does it mean to you now?

Is it important in your life? The lives of others and society as a whole?

Is ethics simply subjective and shifting or is there a more objective standard that we all innately live by?

Pick a central theme and build from there. Make sure that you use Ethics Theory & Contemporary Issues as your key source, but you’ll need at least one other source to support and build your argument.

Why do you believe as you do? Use logic, support, and critical thinking to develop your essay. As far as outside sources are concerned, you can type in “higher education issues” in a search engine or YouTube, and you’ll get a lot of options.

Also, remember that you need to keep your paper formatted and sourced according to MLA (Modern Language Association) (Links to an external site.) standards. And here’s a sample paper (Links to an external site.) to help you get an overall look at the completed product.

For the first three papers, keep it simple. You only have to worry about in-text citations,  Works Cited, and proper formatting (12 point font, New Times Roman, one-inch margins, double space) page for now.   You need two sources and your paper should be at least 3-5 pages long, making sure your Works Cited page has its own page. Lastly, nothing else should be on it, except for the sources.
